GLOSSARY

ASCME - automated system of control and metering of energy resources - is designed for conducting the automatic technical and commercial metering of consumption and generating of energy resources of small, average and greater enterprises, and also energy supplying companies. The software included into ASCME, is aimed for creation of the automated workplaces of chief managers of enterprises, main power engineers, power dispatchers and serves as a tool for monitoring, control and forecasting of consumption of energy resources, and also conducting all necessary journals of retrospective of events and creation of packages of the reporting documentation.

DECT - digital enhanced cordless communication - is the standard of digital radio access which uses radio frequencies bandwidth very effectively and opens new applications of wireless communication for house, office and private local commercial zones (airports, stations, shopping malls, banks, stock exchanges, exhibition centers, building areas, bid warehouses etc.). It provides the steady high-quality communication protected from not authorized access to users. The standard supports voice and facsimile communication, and also data transmission. Besides it is developed in view of modern telecommunication tendencies, such as convergence of fixed and mobile networks, integration of voice communication and data transmission, multimedia services and simultaneous service from several operators.

ERP-system ( Enterprise Resource Planning - planning of resources of enterprise) - a system of management of resources, a set of the integrated applications, allowing to create the uniform environment for automation of planning, metering, control and analysis of all main business-operations of enterprise, such as manufacture, finance, supply, sales, storage, technical maintenance.

FSO - free space optics (or optical wireless) system can be thought of as a "radio" system that uses infrared "light" instead of radio waves, or as an optical communications system that transmits laser beams point-to-point through the air, instead of along a fiber optics cable.

IP-telephony is the technology providing, alongside with a traditional telephony, a plenty of additional services – voice mail, selector meetings, videoconferences.
IP-telephony is understood as the technology, allowing using the Internet or any other IP-network as means of the organization and conducting international and intercity telephone conversations and transfer of faxes in a mode of real time, and also optimization of conversations inside the organization, irrespective of its size and location.

PDH technology (Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy) is based on pulse code modulation (PCM). In pulse code modulation a multiple-shift usage of a transmission link is enabled by TDM (time division multiplexing). PDH technology enables with its hierarchical structures the implementation of networks with transmission capacities of up to 140 Mbit/s. In applications with cross connecting on bit-level or with a demand of special interfaces, PDH system technology is in use even today.

SCADA - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition is a computer system for gathering and analyzing real time data. SCADA systems are used to monitor and control technology or equipment in industries such as heavy engineering, metallurgy, utilities, energy, oil and gas refining and transportation and telecommunications.

SDH technology - Synchronous Digital Hierarchy has become the primary transmission protocol in most PSTN networks. It was developed to allow streams 1.544 Mbit/s and above to be multiplexed, so as to create larger SDH frames known as Synchronous Transport Modules (STM). The STM-1 frame consists of smaller streams that are multiplexed to create a 155.52 Mbit/s frame. SDH can also multiplex packet based frames such as Ethernet, PPP and ATM.

WiMAX - Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL. WiMAX will provide fixed, nomadic, portable and, eventually, mobile wireless broadband connectivity without the need for direct line-of-sight with a base station. In a typical cell radius deployment of three to ten kilometers, WiMAX Forum Certified™ systems can be expected to deliver capacity of up to 40 Mbps per channel, for fixed and portable access applications. This is enough bandwidth to simultaneously support hundreds of businesses with T-1 speed connectivity and thousands of residences with DSL speed connectivity.
